Fascinating interview. I first heard Jeffrey Archer being interviewed on TV about writing in the early 1980s maybe even before the internet was invented. I have followed Jeffrey Archer for many years – I remember his political career in the days of Thatcher and Reagan, his fall from grace and his rise from the ashes to become a bestselling author.
    A few takeaways today:
The amount of revision he does – it must work given the number of books he has sold.
His enjoyment of writing, even after many years – of course selling a lot of books helps the enjoyment.
His quote; “I wish there was a shortcut but there isn’t.” (paraphrased)
Finally, and I think my most important takeaway – becoming a great writer involves hard work – “go to the ballet…”
    I loved this interview today.

Lots of wisdom there. Too bad we all spend so much time looking for shortcuts.
